The tunes are back!

Now that I've done my complaining for today, I have some happy news!
When you open this blog, you will once again hear an Armitage tune.
(Something from North & South, Robin Hood, or Spooks.)

I'm so excited!  Hearing "Thornton's Walk" right when I'd open this screen in the early days
used to be one of my favorite things about this blog, until it was removed from my old playlist site.
Now, thanks to Elise at Ribbons of Light, I discovered there is another site
that DOES have N&S music available for playlists plus several other RA-related tunes!  Yippee!

Can everyone hear the music,
or is it once again limited to the US and surrounding areas?

  3. Hi there!

Just discovered your blog and will be checking it out daily! Love the music!

North and South is my favourite Richard role, I've even based a novel character of mine on John Thornton, but I think he's fab in anything. I saw Sparkhouse for the first time last night and felt really sorry for his other version of John.

    Anyhoo, farewell from England!

  4. It's audible down under.
Ohhhhh, hearing Thornton's walk really takes me back....

  5. Everything ship-shape in Belgium!
Thanks, Nat, another great idea of yours!
So there was Spooks (with Harry and Adam's voice), Thornton's walk and Boucher from N & S and two RH's.
    I missed Thornton's voice, however!
Like when he says: "She did save me but, mother, I daren't believe such a woman could care for me ..."
    That would be super!

  6. Thanks Nat - that N&S music is so evocative and emotive. I can really appreciate it now that I am not *distracted* by what else is going on, like the gorgeous man on my screen!! Great to hear the Spooks theme too with PF's voice in its entirety - pity its not Richard's dulcet tones though! *thud* And the rich RH tunes bringing back Guy memories.

Great idea and great find *thumbs up* - I must be honest I think I would find the music distracting though on a regular basis.

  8. Nat,

Six months ago is a blur to me. LOL!

Hey, did you have playlist before and now mixpod, or was it always mixpod?

  9. I don't hear anything here in the Czech Republic. Could it be that I need a specific player?

  10. Excellent.
I can hear it here in England.
Love reading your blog, by the way.
Anything to feed my RA obsession!

  11. Nothing here in Greece. Maybe it's an add-on thing I should install on Firefox?

  13. I got the whole N&S on my ipod for whenever I need a N&S fix! Now if only we could find the little snippet of RA reading N&S's proposal that Spikebint used in her 2008 birthday video for RA!!

Also shoutout to flandersdreamer: I am a flanders girl who ended up in the US via the UK.

  15. I'm glad so many of you can hear the music this time! Sorry to the ones who can't... I don't know why. It may be a country thing?

bZ- I used to have playlist and now I'm using mixpod.

  16. Loud and Clear in Scotland,
    Whoo Hoo!

I do love the music from North and South. Infact I love everything from North and South. I may have said that before, but I know everyone will understand.

  17. Not a country thing, hurrah!:-) It works in Internet Explorer and Google Chrome, but not in Mozilla Firefox. Thanks to Greek RA fan for giving me the thought:-)

  18. It's not necessarily Firefox. I'm using Firefox and have no problems. Could be certain plug ins are needed and/or certain plug ins need to be disabled. Depends on what you're running. Or it could be your default player.

  19. @bZirk, you're right, but changing a browser is the easiest thing to do (well, for me... :-D)

  23. @bZirk: Thanks for the link; I've had it in my NS playlist but someone somewhere must have the mp3....

@Myrtle: when it comes to N&S it can always be said again and again and again. Total and utter understanding there...

  26. robin hood's tunes make me cry

    ReplyDelete
  27. I can hear it in Canada, with Mozilla Firefox, although it is a bit choppy.
I DO love the N&S music, nice to hear exciting Spooks too! The Robin Hood music is a bit too exciting for me though. I find just looking at RA's photos is about all the excitement I can take!! :)
Haha! My word verification is "bumsgr" !!

  28. Wauw! Thanks bZirk, I'm a newbie but fell hard and fast...
It'll be the first thing I do in the morning..after sending the kiddies of to school.

  29. Love the music Nat! Great stuff!

My fave N&S music is the "I've seen hell" bit, it's hauntingly beautiful. I feel like it sums up the whole drama so magnificently. Is there a complete soundtrack to N&S available anywhere?

And I love the part of RH music which is called the Marian music IIRC in s1 DVD special features section.

  30. Oh Nat I love all the music! Thank you!

  31. At first I didn't hear anything, then went to the bottom of the page searching for some magic button :P to turn on the music, instead I found the Mixpod player, I refreshed the page, it took its time to load but after that I'm able to hear all of them :D (yayy!) and I'm using FireFox.

    Great idea Nat :)

Just a thought, there's no Guy theme/song right? When I hear RH's theme I imagine Robin/the gang, I don't really associate it with Guy (maybe because he's one of the baddies) while with Spooks theme I do picture Lucas... Never mind.

  32. I've got the sheet music for "I've Seen Hell," and I LOVE to play it. Everyone who's heard it has asked me "What is that?!" This has served as a segue to potential conversion. Muhahahaha!! :D

When I tell them the name of the piece, of course they want to know why such a beautiful piece has such a name. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  33. OOOH I can hear the music over here in the UK Nat....and very nice it is too.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Got it (UK) :D good stuff :D Loving the music selection too :D

  35. Like Ragtag, music is coming through loud and clear in Australia.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks, its so cool. I can get it here in upstate NY on my home computer with windows 7 and real player. Cant hear it at work where we have Mozilla Foxfire

    ReplyDelete
  37. bZirk thanks for posting that link. i did not know that there was an audio excerpt from N&S. why oh, why did they not have him do an audio book???

    ReplyDelete
  38. Can you imagine how well that would sell?! Well, maybe I'm just rabid. LOL! However, I know some of my friends who would love to hear him read that book -- even if they don't know it yet. :D

  39. OH yes!!!! a North and South Audiobook, read by RA, that would be orgasmic (is that word aloud?)

I'm going to start a campaign, I.m going to write to the BBC!! I.m going to write to the Prime Minister, the Queen, Barack Obama anyone that will listen ha ha

Have I told you all that RA signed my copy of North and South,
    "I treasure it"

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sorry, that should of course be 'allowed', not sure if I was carried away thinking about the audiobook or the word orgasmic! Or both!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. You said it, Myrtle, but we were all thinking it!! The thought surely made my day!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Myrtle: OhMyGodRAsignedyourNorthandSouth?!

Signed copies bring out the rabid tendancies.

    ReplyDelete
  43. signed copy of N&S -- myrtle, i know loathe you. just kidding. u r one lucky girl. where do you keep this said signed copy?

  44. Details!! Details!! What were you wearing, what was he wearing, what did he say?? Did you faint??
    Lucky, lucky you!!!

  45. Well Girls, I was shopping in Oxford St and bumped into RA and he took me to Waterstones for a coffee........

    In my dreams, Ha Ha!!!!

Sadly, I wasn't there when he signed it. I wrote to him and asked him if he would sign it for me.
(I included a return SAE of course)

He signed my name!!! ( which isn't Myrtle!!) and 'with love from Richard', he included a signed photo. I believe he is very good at responding to his mail, bless him!

I keep the book in my bedside table.

Now, if you don't want to read any more pathetic stuff, stop here!

I have kept the envelope that my book was posted in, the thought that he has touched it, and licked it, is too much, I simply can't throw it out.

And we all thought Nat was obsessed, seeing RA in cartoons, I can take it to a new level!!!!!!

I don't think I'm the only person to have kept the envelope, however:D

  46. Myrtle, that made my day bearable; being stuck inside with the kids and hubs due to a raging Northeastern snowstorm that broke records!!
