A North & South Limerick

There once was a chap named Johnny,
who had quite the protective Mommy.
A cravat he did wear,
with a strong piercing stare,
though he was not what most would call brawny.

Now, John-boy had eyes for dear Maggie,
who was never too boastful or braggie.
At first she was ticked,
since a worker he kicked,
so their relationship started out saggie.

Johnny asked his dear Maggie to wed...
and can you believe what she said!?
She turned him down flat.
(Maybe he should've worn his hat.)
And then he thinks her sweetheart is Fred!

They still have feelings for each other,
despite that meddlesome mother.
although neither will admit it,
they want to get with it.
Then John finds out Fred is her brother!

Johnny was having trouble with the mill,
since he had way too many big bills.
Maggie had left town,
and with the mill shutting down,
poor Johnny didn't know what to feel.

JT traveled South on a train,
hoping there'd be something to gain.
To his great surprise,
Maggie caught his blue eyes!

From their love, they could no longer refrain.

Isn't amazing how Richard continues to inspire so many people to creative endevours in so many different areas?

  3. Nat, you are unbelievably talented and funny!
I still can't believe you only take about 30 minutes a day working on this blog. It takes me that long just figuring out what to write in a thank you card, LOL!

  6. Who knew when Gaskell first wrote down
Her tale of a distinguished man with a frown
That Armitage would take on the part,
    Stealing countless women's hearts,
And turning them helplessly upside down?

    Inspiring Nat!! Well done!

  12. Whenever you celebrate your anniversay, I've got something for your wall. It's the Sunshine Award. I waxed on about it over at my blog, and I can't think of a better person to give it to. Thank you for all of the Sunshine, Nat!

Oh, and I think someone gave you another award, but I don't remember who. Hopefully you know about it.

  14. Oh Yes please! Sideburns AND stubble!

  15. @Rob, sideburns, you're right! He wears them well. On some, they just look out of vogue, or as if the guy's too lazy to properly shave. But not on our man! It only makes him more swoonworthy :)
