News: Singing Richard & New Leading Lady

If you have been itching to hear Richard sing in his role as Lovelace in the radio play "Clarissa," you can find an audio clip HERE on Richard Armitage Net.  (Thanks, ladies!)

With Ros out of the picture, Lucas will need a new leading lady in Spooks, Season 9.  It has been announced that Sophia Myles will be that woman.  Richard and Sophia have worked together in the past, in the 1999 production "The Four Alice Bakers."
(See more photos of them together HERE.)
I absolutely LOVED Sophia in "Tristian & Isolde."  I can't wait to see what she does alongside Richard in the next season of Spooks! (Maybe they'll wear matching jeans? haha. Maybe some smooching! *wink*)

*Thanks to Susie for the Sophia Myles website link.*

They are going to be absolutely PERFECT together. I can't think of a more adequate and worthy companion for RA! Sophia is beautiful, sweet and very talented. I think the producers finally gave the right aknowledgement of Richard's huge talent!
Looking forward to it!

Sophia Myles in Spooks opposite Richard? BEST CASTING NEWS EVER!

I couldn't stand it. I had to listen to the clip of him singing. I knew it. I knew it. I knew he could sing. As much as he's playing that camp, his ability to sing is obvious.

Oh, and I really look forward to watching Sophia Myles. My daughters loved Tristan and Isolde, so I'll have to let them know this!

I'd have given my high teeth to see Sophia and Richard dancing the foxtrot in the Four Alice Bakers. As for his singing, what a cutie! He may have purposely inserted a few dud notes into it but you can't fool me, what a voice!

Yes, the singing was lovely, perfect. Honestly, @ this point is there something he CAN'T do???? It's just too much for me.

Forget that he is the def on talk, dark and handsome, but to also sing, act, dance, play three or four instruments...honestly!!! It's just too, too, too much.

@Rob, yes it is too much, what are we to do??? He is truly talented.

Clarissa yesterday and today I have just returned from a long drive having listened to some of Venetia in my car. His 'voice' for Dameral is divine.

Oh I can't wait for Spooks 9, I can't wait for Strike Back, this dammed obsession is making me wish my life away!!

Bz, glad you enjoyed 'Lovelace' singing.
Perhaps they might weave into the Spooks storyline that Lucas and the newgirl(Sophia) do the Argentine Tango together. Now, that would be something!!!

Finally a "pretty" woman for Lucas, I have always liked Sophia and Tristian and Isolde is a great movie.

I am so overwhelmed I can no longer spell!!

Like the new leading lady, just hope there isn't a bad American accent in the mix.

Why Boston? It is the hardest accent to do? Why not a Midwestern or a twangy southern accent????

The voice gets me, everytime, it should be against the law, to look like that and sound like that.

I think Irish actors/actresses try Boston because so many Irish went to Boston, they think there is some relationship maybe? I like you am praying that whatever accent they give her she gets right. I never thought I cared all that much (there are plenty of Australians who play North Americans on the screen and I never notice) until I saw a few clips with that awful accent. I haven't seen season 8 through yet but I am hoping she doesn't ruin it or me.

BTW, love these pictures from rehearsal of Four Alice Bakers. They both look so normal.

re. Lovelace singing - just like bZirk's, my very first words were "I knew he could sing" (with a trained voice and the obvious musical ear - how could yo not?)
still, second and third and fourth time listening it made me rather laugh...
as for the new "leading lady" - to be seen. I'm still clinging to the hope that Ros comes back (I know!!!)
and if Sophia should be the one - please, not another relationship! Much as I'd wish for Lucas to find a little bit of happiness - can we please concentrate on matters more important? And take his character development in some other direction than the bedroom?

Hi Nat ! I pop by to tell you that I really love your blog ! It's wonderfully done, and I check every day for new posts ^^ Thx so much for your work on it, and all the RA stuff you share with us ^^

Finally a woman who I think is on par with RA. And yes, I am going to take 10 steps back in feminism and hope she is the leading love for RA, a girl with a pretty face who can also kick butt! That's what I'm hoping for here folks!

But somehow I don't think that's what the writers will give us, I'm on S6 now and I think there is a general pattern with this show. They seem to alternate between seasons in terms of a serious relationship for the lead character (who pretty much happens to be a male) and then a season where he may monkey around a bit, but that's all.

As for RA's voice, haven't had a chance to check out the clip, but I have a feeling I will be melting when I do :)

BTW, does SM remind anyone else of Kate Winslet?

Ok, just listened to the link you got up Nat, with RA singing and all I can say is, "Is that really him singing?" Because if it is, then why doesn't this man have a singing career too? I just can't get over it!!! What is his agent doing? This man should have albums or something!

I remember hearing RA sing a note in one of the RH audios and thought he must have had a good voice. I suspect LAMDA takes their students based on audition of singing, dance and drama so I always thought he could sing - it's nice to finally hear the voice.

I like the look of the new leading lady in Spooks - looking forward to both SB and Spooks 9.

He went to a performing arts school as a teenager and earned his living in musical theatre before he decided to concentrate on acting and went to LAMDA, so I assume he must be able to sing and dance and had some kind of "singing career". He understudied several characters in Cats so he actually must have been pretty good.

The CATS experience also made me think he could sing. It's nice to have confirmation.

At the very first I didn't believe it was Richard until I recongnize his particular tone of voice..sigh.
Watch him dance is the only thing missing :D

Nat, could you tell where it says Sophia will be replacing HN as leading lady? So it is confirmed Ros is a goner? :(

I love or loved Ros! She was just too awesome for words. The Brits are ruthless when it comes to killy off beloved characters on shows.
