Looking back at Richard's characters here,
I realize that the majority of them weren't great husbands or fathers.
It's a good thing these children had their mothers!
I'm very grateful for my mom especially now that I'm one myself.
I think it's the toughest, yet most rewarding job in the world. :)

Happy Mother´s Day to you, Nat!
I just found out you´re about to be mother for the third time. Congratulations!
My favourite mother of your list is John Thornton´s mother. Whenever I think of N&S I always
hear her voice in my head first.
I don´t know if your list is complete. The last mum -of SB- is new to me, as I am still in the dark over here on mainland Europe. The desert looks hot, so I prepared my kit.
I think Mrs. Thornton did a fabulous job with John -- not so sure where she went wrong with her daughter though. (Let's blame in on her dad's genes -- it can't always be the mothers fault!) LOL
Happy Mother's Day to you, Natalie and all you other mothers out there!
His character MacDuff had two daughters who were cruely murdered in the Macbeth segment of Shakespeare Retold.
Does the step-daughter in Sparkhouse count as off spring? Thankfully he gave her a chaste kiss as she died in his arms in RH
s3. Paul Andrews (Between the Sheets)had a stepson as well if I remember correctly.
Happy Mother´s Day
Happy Mothers Day Nat.
I adore the scenes between John Thornton and his mother.
I hope you had a great Mother's Day, Nat!
I love being a mother, and I thoroughly enjoy my kids. I just hope they enjoy me as well. LOL!!
Happy belated mother's day! I love Thornton's scenes with his mother. And yes in real life he couldn't have had a sister like that with a mother as stern as that. But it probably was more fun to write her that way...
This is a dear post. Thank you. I am cuddling w/ my daughter as a post this!!
I envy you. One of mine is living far away. I MUST go see her this summer. I think I'll burst if I can't do that.
I hope everyone had a great mother's day.
Thanks Nat for taking time out of yours to post :) I loved your special section to the "baby mommas", Lol!
By far, I love the interaction between Thornton and his mother the best of all the 'family moments' stuff I've seen him in so far.
It will be interesting to see how much of him we get to see as a dad in SB. It's been limited so far, but I like what i've seen.
Happy belated Mother's Day, everyone. I enjoyed this entry enormously, Nat! I have to agree with those who liked Thornton's scenes with his mother. I have a 28 year old son and I have the same fierce loyalty to him. It doesn't go away when they become men or women.
I have a brand-new grandson who missed being a Mother's Day baby by 15 minutes, so my day was pretty awesome.
Congratulations to you Joan

Congratulations, Joan. What a wonderful Mother's Day gift!
I also have a great fondness for the scenes with JT and his momma. I can so relate to this special bond a mother and son have. Even though I love all my children the same, I'm a pushover when it comes to my son, and my daughters tease me about it. But no worries, my husband is a pushover with our daughters.
Happy Mother's Day Nat
