A Much Needed Boost

I was having a horrible day.
I've been fighting a nasty cold for 4 days and have spent
that time lying on the couch like this:
but without the stubble, atom's apple, guyliner or black clothes.
(Okay, so basically just groggy and feeling sorry for myself with messy hair.)

During the previous days of illness, I had already gone through my stack of entertainment,
viewing most of my favorite movies and reading "The Hunger Games" trilogy. There's only so much
a person can do while resting up... and by yesterday afternoon, I became bored and rather depressed.
My husband had to work, my other family members were out of town and my next Netflix
movies aren't due to arrive until Monday.  The boys and I were cooped up in the house
with nice weather taunting us and I was getting more frustrated by the minute!

It was right in the middle of this pathetic, runny-nosed pity party that I checked my mail box.
Inside was a package from an RA buddy of mine... one of the few who knows my real contact info.
I quickly opened the package to find a great surprise~ the "Strike Back" DVDs and "The Witchfinders" CD
(Richard's narration of a Robin Hood story) amongst other things.  A huge grin immediately spread across
my face and I think I let out a squeal of glee. :)  It was such a great surprise and couldn't have arrived
at a better moment.  I immediately perked up and stopped feeling sorry for myself.

I'm so grateful this sweet friend thought of me.  (This isn't the first time she has
cheered me up with a nice message or surprise in the mail.)  This experience and her
example have made me determined to do more random acts of kindness for others.
So thanks to her and Mr. Armitage for the smiles on a yucky day! :)

Stay tuned...
I'm sure there will be new reviews coming up
thanks to my latest entertainment.

I was writing just about something ...very similar. Our RA online community is made up of extraordinary friends! And RA himself can make ... miracles!
I'm sure you'll feel much better soon! Hugs. MG

What a great feel better post! The newspaper article is fantastic!

Take two John Porters and a Gisborne (or two gizzies and a JP) **precaution - Richard Armitage does induce feverish dreams, so make sure you have pen & paper near so you can write them down!!

Feel better soon. what an awesome care package! I am jealous. Can you post the full nnewspaper article? Is it real? Or a mock up?

That was so sweet for someone to do that! Glad you're feeling a little better. Hope you feel much better soon!

I can't wait to hear your reviews of Strike Back, and I'm curious like @Rob. Is that a real newspaper? If not, that's a great mock up.

Dear Nat,
I had to laugh, imagining you as that picture of Gizzy! But believe me, I know how it feels to have a miserable sinus cold (they are the worst!) and it does seem worse to have a cold when it is lovely sunny weather outside.
But what a wonderful gift to send at such an opportune moment! That makes it even more awesome than it already was!
That newspaper article is very clever. I am going to have to discover how you did it, even if it means trolling the internet forever! LOL
Great post. Get well soon!
P.S.
LOL!! -- my word verification is "prezzi"!

Echoing everyone else's thoughts here in saying I hope you feel better Nat.

I too am curious about that newspaper article and how it was done. How clever!

And to whomever sent you that lovely care package, thumbs up to them! You're right Nat, when we are on the receiving end of such kindness it really does encourage us to pay it forward :)

Feel better soon, Nat. What did you think of Hunger Games? I just finished number 3 and I really liked them a lot.

Thanks for your well wishes. I feel a bit better every day and will hopefully be over this annoying bug soon!

For those of you who wondered if that news article was real... click on it to enlarge and read. That should answer your question. haha. :) (In other words, definitely a fake, but someone SHOULD write such an article, right?)

Normally I would recommend 'Hot Toddy' to drink for your cold Nat, but given your rather delicate condition, perhaps not. So just have Hot Totty in the form of RA instead.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

@Myrtle, :D

Hi Nat,

Hope you are feeling better by now! Both the Strike Back DVD and the Witchfinders are great. Wait until you hear Richard imitate Kate on the Witchfinders, it always makes me laugh and the interview with him at the end is very enjoyable. I do enjoy his sense of humour. You have a lovely, thoughtful friend, a true treasure in itself.

Enjoy and be well!
