If you think Stick-Figure Richard
and John Thornton look good enough to eat...
Yummy handsome fellows:
...then you're in for a real viewing treat,
thanks to our fellow Richard Armitage admirer,
NovemberBride...
who also happens to be a talented cake decorator
and loving grandmother.
Check out this birthday cake she made
for her 2 year-old granddaughter, Mollie:
It was based on Mary Englebreit's
"Hey Diddle Diddle" nursery rhyme drawing:
NovemberBride decided to change Mr. Spoon
to look more like Stick-Figure Thornton... and what a handsome
spoon he is indeed, with his top hat, cravat and sideburns!
That lucky dish.
"Why does Spoon-Figure Richard
get all the ladies?"
As NovemberBride created this cake last week,
she emailed me some step-by-step photos, including this one:
It was so much fun watching Spoon Figure Richard
and Mollie's fabulous cake come to life.
It kinda felt like my birthday too. :)
Thanks for sharing NB!
And one more yummy look at this cravat-wearing hottie:

What a great cake! To have a grandmother like that as well - fab! Lucky girl. :) Ahh, to have a Stick-Figure Richard on your birthday cake ...
That NB is something else!! And those cakes are fantastic!
Glad to see you posting! See how excited I am -- that makes four exclamation points! Now five. :D
Awesome cake! I can barely bake a normal chocolate cake I can't imagine how to begin an art piece like that, hat off NB!
yummy SFR! Literally ;)
OML :)
A fantastic cake! And Stick-Richard (or maybe a cousin) almost IRL. ;-)
That cake was truly inspired! Well done November Bride! What a lucky grand daughter she is!
Thanks gals! And thanks to Nat for the inspirational SFR aka SFR. LOL! And of course to the ever-inspirational RA w/o whom we would not have SFR or SFR!! (Maybe we should start numbering the SFR's so as not to confuse ourselves?!) ;)
Mollie had a wonderful night! It was her turn to receive baby doll in a Moses basket. When I set it in front of her, she put both hands over her mouth and said "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" I know. You had to be there. But she's so darned cute.
This is the most incredible cake I've ever seen!!! How could you bare to eat it? Then again, how could you resist....Cake and Richard - does it get any better than that?
@calexora...Well, seeing as it the top layer was vanilla filled w/strawberry jam I made last summer and the bottom layer was choc. w/peanut butter creme filling, there was no problem in getting the little critters to dig in. Literally! But, no, it couldn't get any better! And thank you.
Wow! what a talent you have NB!!! I was going to ask the same question as calexora, but seeing how delish you made the dish, well, I would have given in too :)
Hope your granddaughter had a lovely time!
MTA: Do you have a cake business on the side?
@TM...sorta. Mainly for family and friends but I cave on occasion to do a wedding cake. Been at it for around 30 yrs give or take. Learned by doing/experimenting with old Wilton books. Believe me, if I can, anyone can. Just takes practice like anything else. Did one today for our son's birthday(tho not as "fancy" as Mollie's. He wanted choc.w/a little frosting on top!) and have another grand coming up in May, June and we hit July with 3!! Who needs a business with all the grands I have?!! LOL! Thanks for the nice comments!
I've gotta say tho...I was on my 4th sketch of the cake and was fiddling around w/SFR's coat. Red? Nah. That didn't look right. But what would? The second I colored in the coat black, he became SFR instantly! That hat, the coat...all he needed was sideburns, a cravat and long, lovely legs!! DIL just rolled when I showed it to her. She's a big JT fan! Of course, I had to have Nat's approval as the Creator of SFR before I got too carried away as I put cake pics on my FB page. Didn't want someone like Nat sueing me..or RA. Wait. Hang on. Maybe? Nah....
NB aka Deb
As though SFR/SFR weren't enough -jam; cream; peanut butter; chocolate!!!
Beautiful, NB!

wow that is very very artistic and creative Novemberbride. You are really good! I bow to you. :)Sweet you put in a top hat stick figure Thornton in there. Sweet! Glad there is a photo of this. :)
I bet you could make a really good cake for Richard's birthday in August. He's turning 40 this year. I bet you would make him proud with one of your cakes. :)
@Vi-wouldn't that be fun?! Reckon PJ would let me take over a set kitchen (do they have them?) to whip up a birthday cake?
@Fitzg-just reading your comment put another 5lbs on my fab bod. LOL!
I have no words to define my admiration for you NovemberBride. This cake is a true work of art!!!
Novemberbride I am sure PJ would let you take over a kitchen to make a scrumptious and creative cake for Richard. Keeps everyone happy. :)
ahhh, if only. Altho hubs did tell me last night that he'd like to go to Australia next trip. I said OK and we could just zip on over to NZ too?!
OK, we've got SFR cross stitch, SFR/SFR cake, SFR art and vids. What's next? SFR gingerbreadman? SFR greeting cards? Cupcakes? SFR T-shirts?! And thanks Ania.
I can see the cupcakes, T-shirts...and the greeting cards and gingerbread men would be great for Christmas! :)
Wonderful NB :)
Very wonderful. :)
You gals are too nice! Maybe I should go into virtual birthday cake business. Then I can send each one of you a cyber SFR/SFR birthday cake!!!
OK Nat...where's "If Nat Wrote Fanfic Part II"?! Oh I forgot. You're knee deep in diapers and houseplans! Best wishes for a wonderful new home!
That would be great Novemberbride. Many of us would appreciate it. :)I hope Nats new home comes out okay too
