Yup, I started my RAddiction with this movie. Absolutely LOVE it. ;D Thornton is so deliciously serious, but ever so kind and vunerable. I've introduce two of my best friends to him (one is borrowing my copy of North and South), and they love him! He's the best!
It appears RA agrees with us. In The Radio Times on 4 May he is quoted as saying: "Deep down I'm searching for another North and South. It was the first time I started to experiment on screen and take risks."
Well, it certainly paid off as we're still fascinated by his Thornton and Richard's career has never looked back since (though a certain somone did not, *the agony of that moment*)!
Oh yes, Richard, please, do another period drama! SB is fantastic and compelling and I loved his acting but there's nothing sweeter, stronger and more attractive than Thornton!
I seem to keep agreeing with you, Twinkling Moon! But, yes, Mr. A's most COMPLETE portrayal to date? Yes, because it is based on a book, structured, unlike RH or even Spooks.
Now if someone would just fund that Richard III mini-series....
Richard Armitage is a British actor who was born in Leicester on Aug. 22, 1971. He is the 2nd son of Margaret, a secretary, and John, an engineer. He attended Pattison College in Binley Road, Coventry, and studied at LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art). Richard's popularity is spreading across the world thanks to his acting talent and gorgeous good looks that just get better with age. He is most famous for his roles in British TV, such as: John Thornton in "North & South," Sir Guy of Gisborne in "Robin Hood," Harry Kennedy in "The Vicar of Dibley," Lucas North in "Spooks," and John Porter in "Strike Back." He has also appeared in many other films, most made for TV.

This is where it all started for me, North and South and lovely Thornton. Lovely to see him again after John Porter's day in the sun!
John Thornton is simply the best!
Thankyou Nat
That s what started it all for me as well. I think it is the best period drama.
I concur! He hasn't topped him yet. This is just what I need after the adrenaline rush from SB.

hope he does another period piece, but it doesn't look like it's gonna happen, @ least there's thornton
Definitely where my RA love started, I still think this is his best work, maybe because it's the best script he's had to work with so far?
Anyhow, it's also my fave period piece, I almost don't want RA to do another period drama because I don't know how he can top JT.
Haven't seen SB yet, so who knows, maybe i'll love him best in that.
Happy Friday everyone :)
