There once was an agent named Daniel,
worked in Germ'ny for ol' Uncle Samuel.

wore dark clothes and bit gloves,

(like Gizzy, our love)

wants to keep Station from growing more scandal.


He kissed ladies to solve certain crimes.

(Even bore nekkid peaches a few times!!!)

Had to chuck a few phones,
when his cover was blown...

 

and to get rid of the women in line.

Though Danny may seem a bit sullen,
has a soft spot for his sweet German cousin.

When things go south,

he has a foul mouth
and self-soothes with lots of buttons.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, I just finished watching
Season 1 of Berlin Station. I've enjoyed seeing Richard play this
dark clothed, glove-biting, cussing American CIA agent.

It's very Lucas North in Spooks with a bit of Gizzy thrown in
and all the profile shots I love in North & South.
(The man has a great profile.)

At first, I hated Richard using an American accent since 
I LOVE his deep British voice. Either I got used to it, 
or he became better at it, because I stopped focusing on his
accent altogether.  Bravo, Richard!  I am excited to see
what happens next.  (No spoilers, please!)

up to since last blogging (or commenting) and fill each other in
on our current RA faves and any other new interests.

it has been so long since I've blogged,
this site had to verify it was ME trying to log into
my own blog by sending me a code through email AND text.

Um. I lost my train of thought in the midst of all my dramatics.

But speaking of trains...

I don't think a person ever really stops being a
Richard Armitage fan, no matter how active or not they

are on social media.  How do I know this?
BECAUSE THIS SCENE ALONE, folks!

As for me, personally, I have been busy the past few years

taking care of my big family (I have a lot of kids. They're awesome!),
traveling with family and friends when I get the chance
(Hawaii, Houston, Phoenix, Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, DC, Austin, Denver),
leading an art program for elementary kids, being a book worm,
and watching ALL the period films I can.
(Still love a good costume drama.)

Richard Armitage favorites in my house:

*North & South, of course! 
It's like comfort food. I never get sick of it. Bring on the angst!

*Vicar of Dibley, which I watch every Christmas.

*The Hobbit Series. My oldest boys have watched it so

often over the years, it may have been played more than N&S.
We love Thorin (Richard was perfect for the role!) and

recently had a rewatch of the series while staying home
during this Covid-craziness. (Many family movie nights lately.)

My current RA viewing obsession:

*I just finished Season 1 of Berlin Station this week.
No spoilers, please!!!  I know I'm late to the game on this one,
but is has been fun catching up lately.

I have many thoughts on this show
and perhaps I'll write a review about it later. 

*My other current Richard fave is HIS INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT.

Love it!!! If you don't follow him, or haven't seen it yet,
click HERE. So cute, funny and a bit dorky.

My favorites are the childhood photo and a glimpse of him
wearing the old Gizzy costumes. He gets us.

New interests over the last few years:
Poldark, Outlander (more the books than the show, but I like both),
Victoria, Vikings, Call the Midwife, Miranda (funniest show ever!),
I also love the movies Brooklyn and A United Kingdom.
I just finished watching the World on Fire series.

I look forward to reading updates about all of you!
I've thought about many of my old RA buddies over the years

and especially recently while revisiting some of Richard's 

old work, like Sparkhouse. It led me back to this blog to find out

what my initial thoughts were. This blog is like a journal in a way.

F4 Day 6: The Other Half

 

What does your significant other think about your Armi-Admiration?

(LittleSallyBoots calls Richard "Armi" and I'm totally copying her.)

 

My husband will mumble sarcastic little things
here or there, which always cracks me up... so I wondered if other

main squeezes do the same thing?  I asked around and here are a few responses.

 

"Oh him. That's sad, my wife's in love with the Guy on the telly".

~ What Mr. Siouxsie Sioux said after catching his wife swooning over Gizzy. 
(Her excuse of watching "Robin Hood" for the kids didn't pull the wool over his eyes!)

(Not Sioux.)

"Well I'm off to the farmer's market.
I heard Thornton will be there with cotton samples."
~Mr. Trudy likes to sneak the word "Thornton" into any
sentence to get his wife's attention.  And it works every time. :)

 

"I wonder if your mate went in the back of my friend's truck?"

~ Said by Mr. Bathsheba when he heard that his friend's army truck
had been used while filming "Ultimate Force."  She was shocked because
she thought her love of RA was a well-kept secret at the time.

 

"Some women like Chippendale's...
my wife prefers buttoned up men with cravats and top hats."
~Mr. Ramones when he tells his friends about his wife's love of "period porn."

"Sir Gay."

~ What Mr. Squid calls Sir Guy of Gisborne.

(Probably makes him feel macho and less-threatened.)

Mr. Squid & Marian can only wish Gisborne was "batting for the other team."

 

"Oh, I see you have another date with your boyfriend."

~Mr. Nat whenever he walks in on me watching "North & South."

He always calls Richard my boyfriend as sarcastically as possible...
usually with some eye-rolling involved.   He didn't recognize him in "The Hobbit"
until I told him afterwards that Richard had played Thorin.  He was stunned and said,

"Your boyfriend was the dwarf leader?  He was great!"

(Yes, indeed, Mr. Nat.)  That was the first nice thing he has ever said about Armi...

perhaps Richard can win over even the most snarky of husbands when all is said and done?


Some husbands like to play pranks...
like Mr. @Rob, who enjoys hiding his wife's large Thorin cardboard cutout
throughout the house so that it surprises her around a corner or in a closet!

F4 Day 4: An Armitage Limerick

There once was a fellow named Richard,

who, as Thorin, got stuck in a blizzard.
but fear not, dwarf-lovers,
for he indeed gained safe cover,

and his side-kick was a really cool wizard.

Go get 'em, boys!

There were also cravats and nice hair,

when he played Mr. Hot-Piercing-Stare.

While watching "North & South,"

you'll wipe drool from your mouth,

or maybe fall out of your chair!

Dang you, Thornton!

Then there's ol' Gizzy in leather...

who was quite the hot-tempered, mean feller.

Though jaded and grim,

you can't help but love him,

unless you're a hermit cave-dweller.

The guyliner. The stubble. The brooding.

Of course there's our Lucas from Spooks,

who battled terrorists, blonde ladies and nukes.

I will always deny

that he was a bad guy,

'cause it surely was some kind of fluke!

I don't believe any of it, I tell you!  *sniff*



But Harry, with his sweaters and smile,

makes being an RA fan so worth while!

He's such a nice guy,

you can't help but sigh,

even if he doesn't have the best style.

Adorbes.

 Speaking of style... there's this chap named Monet.

Though it's never implied that he's gay,

he loves cheerful bright colors,

like his creative, artsy brothers,
and would die wearing something bland and gray!

Don't look at me like that.  Pink looks great on you, Claude!

John Porter seems hardened and tough,
with those muscles and weapons and scruff.
Rescuing one-handed ladies,
saving African babies,
we learn on the inside, he ain't rough.

who bring entertainment to many a fan's lives.
We all sure do love them,
so keep 'em on-commin',

My Husband looks Hot in Guyliner!!!

 

My husband doesn't have a desk job.

He has a blue-collar, hard hat-wearing,

get-your-hands-dirty kind of job

and he loves it.

 

He usually doesn't come home too messy
because he's a supervisor... but yesterday there was
trouble at the work site and he was covered from head-to-toe in oil!

He wiped his hands and face down as best as he could and changed his clothes,
but he couldn't get rid of all the oil before coming home to take a shower.

 

So he walked in the door looking

just like THIS without the leather!!!

He was all smudged and looked like

he was rocking guyliner.  *Swoon!*

 

As soon as he walked through the door,

I started giggling like a school girl and gushed

over how handsome he looked!

 

It helps that my hubs has similar stubble, sideburns, color of hair

and color of eyes as Gizzy in this pic. (His hair is shorter and wavy, but

it was made straight by all the oil gooped into it.)

 

He was shocked...

normally when he comes home messy, I immediately

point his way to the shower...but this time, I was trying to stall

the cleaning of his messy look.

 

Instead of saying,"Sorry for that rough day at work!"and 

sympathizing over nasty oil gunk in his hair and ears and who-knows-

where-else, I said, "Do that more often!"

 

Now if he'd just

come home wearing a cravat...

 



Therapy Session

Do you ever feel

possessive about your favorite things?

I do!

The left cushion of our love seat is mine.

(Nobody better sit there on movie night!)

Sometimes I'll discover something I love and take it over...

like one of my husband's old t-shirts that I've claimed for a

pajama/lounge-around-on-Sunday shirts.  It, too, is now mine.

And then there's Richard Armitage.

I've never felt territorial about my favorite actor before. 

In fact, since being hit with Thornton Syndrome a few years

back ("Oh the good ol' days, so long ago" *said in my best granny

voice, like I'm an old timer now*), I've felt that it was my

responsibility to spread the RA love.

I haven't had much success in bringing

others "into the fold," but I've tried, dang it!
I've tried. 

Today, I was browsing my personal facebook account,

when I noticed a family friend had posted something about

loving Richard Armitage as Thorin... and went off about him

and how amazing he is.  I immediately felt excited that I could

FINALLY discuss RA with someone I knew in "real life."

Then, I felt a twinge of... possessiveness!

Suddenly, I DID feel territorial!

Grrrr!!!

A stream of senseless thoughts rushed through my head:

Who does this girl think she is!?

I know SO much more about Richard than she does!

I bet she hasn't even watched "Vicar of Dibley" yet.

Then I realized how CRAZY my

thoughts were and snapped out of it quickly! 

Wow. How embarrassing!

Humph!



Something similar happened a few weeks ago,

when a bunch of male family members were discussing

"The Hobbit" and the different dwarf characters. One person

mentioned Thorin and I had to refrain myself from spouting

off all sorts of information about Thorin and the guy

who plays him in a know-it-all voice.

CRAZY, I tell ya!!!

These territorial feelings are so strange to me because:

1. I'm no longer obsessed with Richard Armitage. 

(I was for the first 6 months to a year of being an admirer. 

I can admit that now.)  He is still my favorite actor,

but he doesn't consume my thoughts.  My husband has

always been my #1 and only true love.  So what's the deal!?!

(I am not judging anyone who is currently obsessed with RA.  It's probably that

dang Thornton's fault anyway.  That show should come with a warning label!)

2. As long as I've been an RA fan, I've wanted to share

his talent with others... so why the sudden possessiveness???

Is it because he's becoming more and more popular

and doesn't feel like our best kept secret any more?

3. Richard is not a love seat cushion.

(Although Gizzy's leather sometimes reminds me of a couch I once knew.)

How DARE you!!!



I'm not sure why I had these odd reactions recently,

but that's why I'm seeing my therapists (YOU)

for professional RA help.

Monday:

Journey to Loxley, long and arduous.  Awoke early.  Sounds of constant pacing backwards and forwards in the next room as my dear friend Sir Guy tried hard to adjust his armour.

Banquet with Sir Guy at 7 pm.  Hope nothing too adventurous.  "Bluebirds" should be for reading, not eating is my motto.  Guy just threw me one of his dark and brooding looks, and gave me the soft cloth to polish his armour.  How can a girl refuse!?



Tuesday:

Having lunch with Lucas today, hope he doesn't choose that new rooftop restaurant.  Mum not happy, calls Lucas a jailbird, try explaining being incarcerated for 8 years for espionage to her......... and, well no hope!  After all, you get less for murder nowadays.  Big changes in the air, Lucas needs to take a leap of faith and hopefully he will land on his feet!




Wednesday:

Waited ages on draughty station platform.  Train from Kings Cross delayed.  Practised a variety of lip movements, and even perfected upper wibble technique.  Can't believe he's stood me up.  Oh well, John Thornton is a complex man, works hard, and the only crinkles you'll see are on his troubled brow and not his cotton.



Thursday:

Started art class today.  Hard to concentrate.  Tutor ticked me off.  Said I spend too much time on the still life and that there was more to the composition than a bowl of peaches.  That's easy for him to say!






Friday:

Off to the gym.  Sign up for swimming lessons, then have a session with some weights.  Enquire as to possibility of securing personal trainer.  Hear that Lee provides service with a smile!  I'm such a Flirty Gerty!






Saturday:

Drive in the country.  Having second thoughts about choice of hat!  Don't forget SAT NAV, would hate to get lost along those unfamiliar country lanes..... on second thought, forget SAT NAV!!




Sunday:

Have a lie in!

Well despite the pseudonym (thanks to my daughter!) I am NOT a goth!  I have a passion for writing. Not just fanfic, but creatively too.  My muse? Well he needs no introduction!  Thanks RA for making my life that extra bit special. When not obsessing or fantasizing about Richard, you'll find me fully employed Monday-Friday, but my day rarely starts or closes without my checking in with friends online. I love cooking... I reckon I ought to write a recipe book! I also am known for making the best Cherry Brandy and Cherry Liquor.... guaranteed to make your legs melt from underneath you! (A little bit like the Armitage Effect- so best not to drink and drool!)  I love cooking...and would love to cook for a certain TDHCMO (am I allowed a dinner party for two dreamwish?) 

I like keeping my life busy, full and productive ~ my motto is you can rest when you die!  So that's me, in a nutshell, in a quiet shady corner in my garden or tucked away in a padded cell nicely papered with glorious gratuitous pics of RA!!  Thanks Nat & Co for another year to celebrate RAfanstravaganza.

she was one of the first to introduce herself and make me feel welcome in the forums
