Awwwww...... love the rosy cheeks.

Does anyone else feel discomfort about the fact that she's so much younger than him? I suppose for those times it wasn't a big deal but still....

Having said that, from my viewing of series 1 so far, I think that Lucy Griffiths held her own with the Armitage. On the other hand, she's too dewy eyed to be convincing as a subversive threat.

Lovely wallpaper this makes -- cheers up a dull Friday afternoon!

Marion was by far the better female character than Kate, she of the Vintage Whine "He killed my bruvvvvvvverrrrr."

Ahhhhh, that profile. *meow!* The soft make-up gives him a tough yet childlike vunerability that is so, so, Gisborne! (I'm sure that's in the dictionary. Right? Right?!? GAAAAAHHHH!!!!) *ahem* I feel slighlt off balance. Must..watch..more...Gizzy...

Man, those two really had chemistry I think! I know this is heresy, but I bought into them as a couple more than RA and DDA. Maybe because N&S was only few hours long and RH was a whole series where they could build up to something, IDK.

@pi, I was totally shocked when I learned of their age difference in real life. I think when the show started he was about 35 and she was 19! A baby! In the US that's barely legal! It took me quite some time to process that one.

Having said that, I became more impressed with her acting knowing her age. I thought she held her own against a clearly older and more experienced cast, including Keith Allen. I didn't feel LG was any less of any actor than her cast mates.

@LGMT-yeah, More Gizzy :)

There was a whole lotta chemistry btw them. He like brunettes that's my theory. :) And yes, I am a brunette.

Honestly, the fact that he got so many fans to root for the baddie says a lot...doesn't it? How many times can you say that you wanted to see the bad guy get the girl? Um, just about never.

I like this picture bec it just sums up Guy of G so perfectly.

Lovely pic, nice smokey eyeshadow.

What's 'Purdy' ????

TM, do you know that there is a warrant for your arrest to take you to the Tower of London!!!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D

More chemistry than RA and DDA, NEVER!!!!

However, I was always amazed by Lucy, how she managed to resist when she was so close to him. How did she manage that????

Blondes have more fun RA, they do, the really do!!!! :D :D :D

My word verification thingy is 'mennest' ha ha

Twinkling Moon said...

@Rob, yeah, I like your theory that he likes brunettes *wink, wink* I do think that many shows/movies etc set up love triangles where the audience ends up rooting for the "third wheel" if you will. But in the case of this show, I think the casting director screwed up. JA just wasn't on par with RA in terms of physical presence, not only in height, but in age too and I think that also impacts how a character is perceived.

@Myrtle, I think "purdy" just means "pretty." And yes, I figured someone was going to say "off with her head!" when I made my blasephemous statement, LOL!

Seriously though, I don't think I've seen him play opposite another female lead and have that same level of intensity/chemistry. Maybe we should be rooting for another RA & LG project?

bZirk said...

I agree about their chemistry topping JT and MH. I don't care what Lucy Griffiths' character was supposed to be thinking, it was fairly obvious she liked Richard. LOL!

I want to know how she kept from getting addled while doing those scenes?

bZirk said...

@Nat,

Yorkshirewench has an absolutely beautiful capture of this scene. It looks like a painting. Gorgeous picture.

@Twinkling Moon & bZirk

I'm in agreement with you two - though from 'favorite leading ladies' polls I've seen we must be a serious minority! I know LG was fairly green when she started out on the show, but by the end of it she was quite good! Would have liked to have seen more of them together, but I guess Marian's 'spy in the castle' role was no longer doable and we would have seen a lot less of them together. Instead we got to see this wonderful sexual tension between Guy and ... his sister. :/

bZirk said...

Yeah, his sister. :(

Changing the subject. Sort of changing the subject. Wouldn't it be great to see him in a project where Lara Pulver is not his sister but his love interest? Or am I the only one who would like to see that?

cesta said...

LP was amazing as Isabella so I wouldn't mind seeing them work together again, but I think it would be too weird seeing them play lovers after they played bro & sis. For RA's sake, I would try and keep an open mind though. :D I know there are Guy/ Isabella shippers out there, so I doubt you're the only one who would like to see them paired again. :D

I don't think RA&LG had more chemistry than DDA with him, I think it was different.
Marian could have said and insulted him all she wanted but I do believe she was stirred by him(not saying in love or care for him), just did her best to fight it. In S2 she was a little more aware, she spend her time with Guy, closer to him because she lived in the castle so he kept trying to woe her and she gave in a little to 'control' him while at the same time resisting him. I think, that tension we see is appealing.

Age difference did not affect me, because I learnt about the difference in mid S2, when I was already cheering for them and grew used to their relationship, though I thought she was 24 in S2 not 20! [I just checked her in IMDB...she has my age (!) *I won't dwell on that* ]

Thanks God, I wasn't really aware of there being sexual tension between LP and RA, just started to notice it after I read it on the net, because I find *that* weird. On the other hand, I agree LP is a great actress, it'd be nice to seem the act together again, just not as lovers..or not upfront, give me time to adjust :P.

@Rob, I'm with you in your theory!(yes, I am a brunette too but I don't think it is just wishful thinking).

OML :)

Just to be clear, I have no liking for a Guy/Isabella pairing, and truth be told, it makes me sick to my stomach just to think of them being made into a couple for fan fiction. I feel the same way about slash. The times I've inadvertently begun reading it, I've literally gotten sick at my stomach and then felt an immediate need to take a bath. If those pieces have any merit, I wouldn't know as I've never finished one. Of course this probably makes me bourgeois, but hey, I'll wear it, and naturally anyone who knows my associations would expect me to say this. Oh well.

Okay, off that soap box and all of that aside, I was not so blind I couldn't see the potential for the two actors to successfully be in something else where they could be a pair.

Please officer throw bZirk and cesta in the cell with Twinklingmoon, until they come to their senses. They perhaps should watch the 'train station scene' continuously until they see the error of their ways. :D lol

(only teasing)

Purdy = Pretty Duh!!! Myrtle, thanks TM x

I would love to see Lara Pulver and RA work together again, now they could have chemistry

Myrtle said...

ps; I seem to remember from somehwere, Lucy said that she was supposed to be going to the cinema with RA one evening and he stood her up!!!!naughty RA

@Rob said...

Ok going back before the incest talk. :) JA worked as RH for me, I think he was the perfect contrast to RA's G of G. For me, the Puck-like RH worked.

I love how we are having this great discussion about the actors and their chemistry! See Nat, all you have to do is put up a picture, no comment or anything, and we are off onto our own discussion, LOL! So I guess on days when you are too tired to put up a lengthy post, just put up a pic and we, your loyal followers, are off! You are the impetus to get us going :)

Anyhow, regarding RA and LG...I have brought this up before but I think on another site, if I am repeating myself here, my apologies. If you listen to the commentary for Episode 13, S1 (where Marian visits Guy after she has been stabbed to ask if he tried to kill the King), LG says in the commentary that that was her favorite scene of the whole series! There was some silence that followed (keep in mind, JA and some other cast members were also commenting) and then RA says "why, because you got to kiss Richard Armitage?" Well, you may as you may imagine, there was a REALLY awkward silence after that statement!

So I think the two definitely had some sort of chemistry in Real life :)

@Myrtle, sorry, as much as I love the "train scene" in N&S, (that kiss is my fave kiss of all time,) I just feel like LG and RA were the real deal

Re LP and RA, yeah, they had some chemistry, RA said of her that she was 'sexy' when she had been cast as his sister, (a bit weird of a statement I think if he's suppose to think of her as his sis) but I think the two look alike to me so I would have a hard time wanting them to get together. I'd be stuck on the whole brother-sister thing. IDK, maybe an awesome script would make me think otherwise?

mulubinba said...

@ Twinkling - re. the comment made by Lucy Grifficths in the Ep 13 commentary - it was Gordon kennedy who said "why, because you got to kiss Armitage" and the silence was palpable ... agree with that ... and it was awkward. The chemistry? LG thought she had it with RA but I still think DDA was the special one:)

@Bzirk, yes. I'd like to see RA team up with Lara Pulver in a different show as well.

Coming late to this but having a blast reading everyone's comment!

@myrtle RA stood her up? Very naughty! Do you happen to have a link to the interview?

@Twinkling Moon & Mulumbina - thank you for pointing out that comment from LG. I've been going through all the RH commentaries and its actually much more fun to watch it that way than to watch the show itself! LOL Can't wait to get to that one!! And if I was LG that would be my fave too!! Hahaha

Myrtle said...

@Sandra, it wasn't an interview, just a report of a discussion by some folk who were at a showbiz thingy, apparantly LG jokingly commented about the incident. The tone was quite light hearted.:D

Unknown said...

@Myrtle - ok thank you! :)

Twinkling Moon said...

@Mulubinba, thank you for correcting me. I only watched the DVD commentary for that episode (didn't read an interview or commentary on that statement,) and I guess I incorrectly heard the voice. I think both Gordon Kennedy and RA have deep voices and I must have mixed the two up. As it is, I have to put the stupid subtitles on whenever I watch a UK show because I have a hard time with the accents, LOL!

Nat at RA FanBlog said...

To throw in my two cents, I think RA has had great chemistry with pretty much every leading lady I've seen him with, especially DDA, LG and Dawn French. (Oh wait... that Sarah chick from Spooks 8 is NOT on the list.)

Twinkling Moon said...

Ha! ha! ha! I think we are in agreement that RA can swoon anyone off their feet, regardless of the character he is playing and who he is playing opposite in terms of a leading lady. The trick is what does the female lead bring to the game. That's where the rub is I think. I don't know why I didn't get fully sucked into the DDA-RA chemistry. I really liked DDA in My Family, so I have no problem with her as an actress. I am stumped by my own thoughts on this pairing *baffled and confused*

"Does anyone else feel discomfort about the fact that she's so much younger than him? I suppose for those times it wasn't a big deal but still...." - Nope, thought never crossed my mind. Didn't actually know how much younger she was until I looked her up on IMDb, and then I went "oooh! ...Yay!" because I'm a sucker for age gap romances.

Not that there's anything remotely romantic about Marian. Ugh. I can't stand her. So why the ruddy heck am I even attempting to venture into fanvid land and make a Guy/Marian video of all things?! >_<

Myrtle said...

I thought it must have been a little surreal for RA when he worked with 'Meg' (Holly something) as he had worked with her when she was a much younger girl in Sparkhouse. I thought they were lovely together in RH.

twinkling moon said...

@Myrtle, I never saw Sparkhouse, but I think I read somewhere that Holiday Granger played his step-daughter and then *pow* a few years later, his love interest in RH! That's gotta be weird!

I read/saw an interview many years ago now of Johnny Depp as we was promoting some picture with himself and Christina Ricci. I think she had a risque scene with him. He said it was weird because he'd known her since she was a kid!

@Traxy, admit it, secretly you are a GuyxMarian Fan! Hence the vid! :)

Anonymous said...

Oooo Traxy, you're making a vid? Do share. =)

Myrtle said...

@TM, Yes, HG was his step daughter in Sparhouse, they have one or two amusing scenes together. You really should watch it if you can, I love it. I am always amazed how RA's character, John Standring (so cute) can possibly be played by the same man who plays GoG. I suppose it just demonstrates, as if we already didnt know, the wonderful talent that RA has.

I thought the scene between RA and Holly in the forest, was one of the most tender in the whole RH series.

twinkling moon said...

@Myrtle, thanks for recommending Sparkhouse. You have me curious about these "amusing scenes" now, LOL!

Unknown said...

@Myrtle I thought the same thing about Meg and Guy...must have been weird especially because she was so young in Sparkhouse.

@TM definitely recommend watching Sparkhouse. Its a good show and John Standring is just adorable in it! You can watch it on Youtube.
