Richard has a new role lined up!

And so it begins, my RA buddies...
we knew the popularity of "our Richard"
was bound to explode after starring as Thorin
in "The Hobbit."

I just read THIS article
which says that Richard has a
new role lined up in a tornado thriller,
which he will begin filming here in
the states at the end of July.

What do you think?

I think that film has a potential of being crappy. I'm worried for RA.

True, anon... but the film also has a potential of being awesome. :)

The main thing I conclude from this role choice is that he's decided his future for right now lies in film rather than in live theatre.

mmmm..... I'm excited, but also a little anxious about the content of this film. Maybe best to reserve judgement for now.

Anything is bound to be wonderful just because HE is in it!!

I am excited for his amazingly bright future in film, but, a little nervous on his next roll due to how many times can a "twister" movie be made and be successful? Wondering if he committed to the role prior to the big buzz and not knowing that people are going to LOVE him as Thorin and that he will be in high demand....everyone will want the "new cool guy from Hobitt" in their films!!! Maybe he didn't realize this but... WE DID :)

Sorry so late with this! I have been busy and on vacation but love this page. Okay, well I remember reading that Richard said he wanted to try conquering Hollywood. That all the top Brit actors try out getting an American TV show or American movie. Benedict Cumberbatch came out to L.A. even though he is huge as Sherlock in England. [He's in a new Star Trek film.

I just hope that the film, a tornado thriller is good. Sometimes you get a good actor bogged down in crap. Or Richard will be good but hardly in the film..He'll play a gas station attendant the storm chasers meet along the way or something like that...LOL Still think he is very talented though :)

RA always raises the caliber to the next level. Even the working title "Category Six" is one level higher than used to categorize tornadoes, LOL! I'm very eager to see this film.

I'm so excited that he's appearing in more movies now, I think he's so fantastic in his craft that it's great that more people will get to enjoy his work. Btw has anyone ever seen him on stage?

I saw RA on stage in the 24 hour plays at the Old Vic,and was most impressed by his stage presence. He may have not done much stage work, but in my opinion he is more than capable.

With the coming cinema release of The Hobbit, RA must take the opportunity of his rising profile to make inroads into the US film industry. This will hopefully gain him more work, thereby ensuring financial security. I think we may see him on stage again, when he has accomplished these goals.

I agree..I think he is thinking of his future and financial security. So he is taking any opportunity Hollywood offers him..hence the Tornado film. He said before in an interview that many British actors come over to L.A. and try out for Hollywood films and tv shows, so he is probably testing the waters here so he can say at least he tried even if it doesn't work out. After The Hobbit comes out he will still be in demand in England as well, so it's not as if that will close up. I just hope he doesn't get stuck with crappy roles after the Hobbit because American directors don't know how to use British actors..We will see..and support :)
